I'm have a great deal of difficulty. You should be able to go to your wallet and add the Apple card to your watch (in your watch app) however, I've done everything, updated, restarted etc and I keep getting an error when trying to add the card to my wallet in the watch app. Frustrating.
Why does it have to be watch OS 5.3 dependent, when all other cards work fine on the Watch OS 4.3.2
Is it a way for Apple to force us to upgrade to new hardware, even when the older hardware seems perfectly capable of doing the needful
i had already tried that, it prompted that I need to update the os.
i am having Apple Watch first generation, which only gets Updated to OS ver 4.3.2.

You cannot add it to the original watch. You need to have Watch OS 5.3.
Thank you however I'm using Apple Watch series 4 completely up to date.
