Yes and no.


Yes, if you plan to permanently connect the AirPort router to the cable modem/router with a wired Ethernet cable connection. Or, if you cannot run the Ethernet cable, a pair of Ethernet over power line adapters might be able to send the signal over the existing AC power lines in your home.


No, if you are asking if the AirPort can connect to the cable modem/router using only a wireless connection and extend the network in that manner.
