how to separate different device imports on photos app on mac??

i imported my iphone photos onto my macbook photos app, now i want to do the same with my ipad but I'm afraid both device photos will mush together, is there a way to separate both devices on the app to access them and add to them separately or all pictures are just going to be mixed in one library?
