Saving documents to Mac and not iCloud

Hi all,

I have the option enabled to store documents and desktop files in iCloud from my Mac, which I find helpful. However, is there any way to create a documents like folder/sidebar option in Finder that saves to the Mac's SSD rather than iCloud? Or do I have to turn the documents and desktop in iCloud feature off?

Thanks

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.14

You can create a new folder outside of iCloud Drive. For example in your Home folder. Use the Finder "Go" menu, click Home there, then File menu New Folder and name it. Then drag the folder to the Favorites area of the Finder sidebar.
