How to micro-manage manage iCloud

When I back-up my documents, it selects all file folders and I am running out of space. I want to exclude specific drives or file folders from my iCloud back-up - i don't want to delete documents on that drive - i want to exclude an entire file folder.

how can i delete files from icloud but not from my computer? Hey. I am running ourt of icloud space. I am sure iCloud is backuping stuff i do not intend it to backup. When I try to delete some files from icloud (using my macbookpro) it also deletes does files in the computer. How can i avoid that? There are no options to exclude folders from the sync to iCloud. If they are in the iCloud Drive folder they are synced. The only option would be to move them to a location not in iCloud Drive.
