disabled phone

i a helping my friend try to unlock this phone he got off someone. it says that its disabled and to connect to itunes but i cant even do anything. i need help

That may be the least of his worries. It could also be Activation Locked, which would require him to contact that someone to get them to remove the Activation Lock if they can. If they can't, then the device is useless to them.
