locked out of iPad. Can’t reset Apple id password

mom locked herself out of her ipad. pretty sure we know the right email for her apple id. would like to reset the password. but arent given the option at the current menu.

If the iPad is disabled : If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

If it's on the activation lock screen and you can't remember the account's password : If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support

If you need iTunes Support's help to reset the password : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww (click on your country's flag, the country where you live, and which is therefore the country on the account ; click on Contact Support towards the top right ; click on Get Help under 'Talk To Us’)
