My son is getting all of my text messages from my phone on his ipad
how can I turn this off or allow him to text from his own #

If he is sharing your Apple ID, you need to create a separate Apple ID for your son.
If he is 13 or older.
If under 13, you will need to set up Family Sharing to create an ID for him.
