I'm not successfully pairing my new watch 4 with my iphone 5c. I tried several methods. In the most recent one, I've the watch says that I need to update my iphone software, but the phone says the software is up-to-date. I can't get to my serial number, so I can't ask support for help.
Any ideas?

You're going to have to buy a new phone. It is not compatible with an iPhone 5c. The 5c is too old.
Also keep in mind that watchOS 6 is going to require an iPhone running iOS 13, which will require an iPhone 6s or higher.
