Recently required to enter password to upgrade apps rather than use fingerprint authorization.

I’ve had my iPad air for a few years now. A few months ago every time I had updates for apps it required that I enter my password previously I simply use the fingerprint authorization. I know the fingerprint scanner still works because that’s how I unlock my iPad. What happened?

Check settings->touch id & passcode->iTunes & app store.

If it is enabled, try to disable and enable it again, restart device and try again.

If that doesn't resolve it, try the steps in If Touch ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
