The summary page mentioned in update instructions isn't present in iTunes for my IPOD nano/

Many thanks, but I don't see a media type on an IPOD icon near the controls as the instructions state. The ipod icon is listed under devices, but beneath that there is music, movies, etc. and right on the icon there is an eject button. Nothing like the screen shot you provided.

Click on that to open the Device pane.
How are you trying to find it?
You may need to click on the iPod icon next to the Media type drop down.
Additional info: there isn't a "settings" tab with "summary" below in iTunes. My IPOD does show up as the only device, settings and summary aren't there, just the music on my device.
