I'm in the process of erasing the hard drive of my mid-11 iMac prior to selling it. I've got as far as reinstalling the OS but I keep getting a prompt that states the "recovery server could not be contacted". Any help and advice would be gratefully appreciated.
iMac 21.5", macOS 10.13
Tried to follow the instruction in the link. Got as far as loading Mac OS Utilities then nothing I select allows me to reinstall/restore the OS. Might this mean that I've come to a dead end? If so then I have no choice but to take my old iMac to the recycling centre.
Tried that. Now attempting to restore from my Seagate external drive one last time. If that doesn't work then it has to go. I really don't want to junk it but I don't have the expertise or patience to continue.

Or boot from an OS installed on an external drive?
Have you tried restarting/resetting the router?
