I need a formula that will pick the lowest six numbers out of ten and then give me an average of those six numbers.
I am not skilled in the language of math to understand “formulas” help section.

=AVERAGE(SMALL(A1:A10,{1,2,3,4,5,6}))
Replace A1:A10 with your actual range of ten numbers.
BigWaff's answer is the easiest formula. If, however, you wanted to average the smallest 50 of 100 numbers, you would want to use SEQUENCE to create the sequence of numbers {1,2,3,...,49,50}. Below is a solution for your average of the smallest 6 numbers that uses SEQUENCE.
=AVERAGE(SMALL(A1:A10,SEQUENCE(6,1)))
