I have an iPhone 16 Basic and lately, silent has been going on spontaneously. I don't believe I have Focus on and if I do, I don't know how to turn it off. In fact, I turned off silent mode 2 minutes ago and it went back on while I was typing this. Missing all my texts and phone calls. It's very frustrating.

My haptics go silent on my iPhone 13 Pro constantly for no reason & don’t go back on. They’re set to control w/buttons, vol is set to max & switch is on so this shouldn’t happen. After I miss enough calls & notif’s I go to settings, turn control w/buttons off then on, hit volume button to max again & it’s back to working again until I notice it’s gone silent again. Really frustrating.

Next step if you already performed the Factory Reset is to schedule an appointment with Apple. That is a problem that needs to be addressed by them where they can perform diagnostics to reveal the cause.

Just noticed that when I was pressing the down volume button I watched the silent mode come on. I went to sounds and turned it off. Then pressed volume down button and it didn't happen the first time but when I did it again silent mode came on. Is there a connection?
My son figured it out. I got new iPhone case whereby the edge was hitting the little button above the up volume. Every time it hit, it would trigger the silent mode. Problem solved after weeks of frustration. Hope this helps others.
Did you turn off Smart Activation in each focus settings? DND in particular.

This has to be a bug as so many are complaining and we shouldn't have to do this. I keep on obsessively checking sounds to be sure it's not on silent as I'm missing lots of calls and texts.
Tried that reboot multiple times & it didn’t fix the prob.
Yes! I have sev friends w/iPhone 13’s who have same prob.
I tried force restart 8 times. Didn't work. It just shouldn't be this complicated. Apple needs to fix this

I have it and mine is an SE2022 very basic.
Settings, Focus, Do not disturb, Smart activation, Off.
Silent mode turning on and off automatically.
