When organizer deletes an event on their calendar, it still shows on my calendar (and that they have "accepted")

I get invited by another Mac user to an event via Apple Calendar and I accept.

Thereafter, if they delete the invite, it is not removed on my Calendar. It still looks to me that the event is still planned, and they appear as still "accepted" (and are the organizer)...so we get out of sync as I still see the invites. Both of us are using iCloud and I can't seem to figure out what is happening why my calendar is not updating. Also, I will see it both on my MacBook and iPhone.
