"Why isn't the Mac music app more similar to the mobile/web version?: After using the music app on my new Mac for a few weeks, I noticed a deficiency and the absence of some features that the same app has on the iPhone or the web, which makes it somewhat useless and inconvenient to use. Is there any known reason why this decision was made?"

Mac and iPhone Music GUIs:
Mac and iPhone run off of two completely separate platforms: macOS, and iOS, respectively. So, what is the difference that you do not like, and that are different? This is the way Apple designed it the GUI (Graphical User Interface). As for getting all info to sync across your devices, you need an Apple Music subscription plan for this.
Recommend this to Apple:
Do Your Part: Being not a feature of the Music app, recommend this to Apple. Apple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what their customers prefer and what features to include in updates to cone. Apple will know nothing of your ideas, if you don't provide them to them.

- Proceed from there as necessary
