Is there a way to hide sponsored search results by default in safari?
Thanks,

Safari is not a search engine; it's a browser. The sponsored results are being served to you by whatever search engine you're using. Search engines make their money by selling ads and by driving traffic to those sponsored sites. They are not going to let you hide them.
Remember, if the service is free, it is likely you are not the customer. Your data is the product being sold.
It's not anything browser-specific. Safari does have a "hide distracting items" feature, Hide distracting items on webpages in Safari - Apple Support, but I don't believe mere links are considered a distraction.

Thanks folks. I knew these points but I didn’t know if Safari offered a way to hide them. I’ll probably try different search engines.
There are not, to the best of my knowledge, any search engines that don't have sponsored results. If you want a search engine that at least doesn't track you, consider DuckDuckGo. It's one of the options in Settings>Apps>Safari>Search Engine.
