Logic Pro Piano Roll: How to color code notes?

How do I change color of individual notes in the Piano Roll (Logic Pro for Mac)? By default, under View ➡️ Set Note Color it's set to By Velocity. But I'm working on a pretty complex MIDI sequence and I find myself wanting to color-code the notes to make it easier to differentiate different parts at a glance. I open the "Color" panel and select some notes, but clicking on a color in the color panel doesn't change the note colors. Any suggestion about how to color code notes in the Piano Roll?

Thank you for your reply Johnson,

However, I have a complex MIDI sequence and it's a single track that is 2 minutes long played by freehand, and due to its structure it wouldn't make sense to break apart into different tracks or regions. From your reply I gather that it's not possible to change the color of individual notes in the Piano Roll editor. Bummer!

Thank you. I’ve now submitted this as feedback to Apple, and I encourage everyone who would like this feature to do the same thing. The more people requesting this, the more likely it is that Apple will implement it. Direct link to submit feedback for Logic Pro: Feedback - Logic Pro - Apple

Text that anyone can copy-paste into the feedback form:

Implementing a feature to color individual MIDI notes in the Piano Roll editor directly by clicking in the Color panel would significantly enhance workflow for complex, single-region MIDI sequences in Logic Pro for Mac. Currently, users are restricted to coloring by velocity, region, or channel, which is insufficient for organizing intricate arrangements that cannot be easily split up. Allowing a simple drag-and-select followed by a color click would provide a much-needed visual layer for identifying melodic or rhythmic patterns at a glance. This addition of manual color coding would modernize the Piano Roll's flexibility and bring it in line with intuitive standards.
