The upgrade to 26.1 has added steps to save a screenshot. Now, instead of it’s being saved to photos immediately, you have to click on the checkmark at the upper right hand corner, and then click save to photos. This might not seem like a lot, but when playing a timed puzzle, those few seconds can make a difference when competing against other players.

You can make the screenshot thumbnail disappear faster.
Settings → General → Screenshots
Disable:
Show Full-Screen Preview (if present)
Keep Screenshots Open (wording varies by version)
Or:
Settings → Photos / Screenshots
Disable:
Auto markup
Auto sharing suggestions

For what I do, I don't usually save screenshots. But I just tried it, and it looks as though, if I don't tap the thumbnail in the corner, that it is saved by default-- so no steps at all. Is that not how it happens for you?
I sometimes make changes to the screenshot and then save it - now I need to hit the 3 dots - then the checkmark then 'save to photos' - So, now it is 3 steps rather than 2. Please Apple quit changing things when they work perfectly fine.
