Hello Apple Support,

I need assistance with my iPhone 16 Pro Max. I am the first and original owner of this device, but I believe a local repair shop may have opened the phone and replaced some parts without properly informing me.

In Parts & Service History, my device shows the following:

  • Battery: “Finish Repair”

  • Display: “Finish Repair”

  • Camera: “Used”

  • Face ID: “Issue”

Here are the details of my situation:

  1. I never replaced any parts myself.

  2. I brought the phone to a repair shop in the past, and now I think they may have installed non-genuine or mismatched parts.

  3. Battery & Display require calibration.

  4. The device asks me to “Restart & Finish Repair.”

  5. I would like Apple’s help confirming whether these parts are genuine and completing the calibration safely.

  6. Camera shows “Used.”

  7. I am concerned that a repair shop replaced the camera with a part from another device. I want Apple to check if the camera is genuine and what the correct solution is.

  8. Face ID shows “Issue,” and Face ID does not work.

  9. I did not damage Face ID myself.

  10. If the repair shop replaced the display or TrueDepth components incorrectly, I would like to know what parts must be replaced to restore Face ID properly.

  11. I want to ensure my device becomes fully functional again.

  12. Please advise me on the steps required, and whether I need genuine Apple parts to restore battery calibration, display calibration, camera functionality, and Face ID.

Thank you for your assistance.

If it was a genuine Apple store or authorized service center, it would be repaired properly.

Since it was just any repair shop, who knows what they did to it.

You're on your own here, we have no way of knowing what they did to it.

Since it was a third-party party repair shop that worked on it, they would not have used genuine Apple parts and Apple won't touch it now that it has been tampered with.

Next time you buy a new iPhone, make sure you take it to a real Apple store or authorized service center if it needs repairs.

Unfortunately your phone is now damaged and will never work properly.
