Comparing iMac and iPad Pro for study use

I am about to go into some hardcore study, and I’ve been thinking about whether I should get an iMac or not.. currently I have been using my iPad Pro which has done an excellent job but I’ve noticed it has been heating up quite quickly while I’m trying to study. So I’ve been thinking maybe I should upgrade to an actual computer… and keep my iPad for travel and work purposes

Just looking forward some feedback on the iMac compared to iPad Pro

As a personal recommendation, if you are considering purchasing a computer, choose a Macbook for studying, so you can always carry it with you and use it anywhere.

If you prefer a desktop solution, choose a Mac Mini or Mac Studio, so you can carry that small box with you and connect it to various monitors.

Keep in mind that for studying, if you are in high school, you may find an iPad Pro convenient depending on your needs. If you are studying at a university or similar institution, choose a Macbook so you can always have it with you.

You may also want to consider purchasing a keyboard for your iPad Pro so you can take notes faster using apps from the App Store.

It's like the difference between a car and a motorbike. Both will get you there but one has a lot more space and possibilities than the other. But really it's impossible to answer not knowing what you're studying and at what level.
