Mac mini Preview cannot open videos Air Dropped from iPhone.
The application "Preview.app" cannot open the specified document or url.
So the air dropped video files which preview can play, which photos.app can play, cannot be opened in photos? Is this another defect in OS 26.1?
I can go to downloads and add the videos to photos and they play just fine. What gives Apple?

This isn't Apple. This is a Community of Photos app users. Apple engineers don't read this stuff.
Preview is used for images, including PDF images. Preview is not an app that plays video. I bet the video wouldn't play in Excel, either.
When I right-click on a movie and choose Open With, I get this menu
which doesn't include Preview as an option. Did Preview show for you?
Don’t use Preview for video at all anymore
Use:
QuickTime supports ALL iPhone video formats.
