"I appreciate the info, but I didn't ask about album artwork. I asked about the 'artist icons'. See attached. All of my albums have artwork b/c 95% of them are manually added from my own CD collection and I pulled all that data in myself. It used to be that those artist icons would use that artwork (or maybe those icons didn't exist in older versions of iTunes)."

Thank you for the followup reply.
Thank you for the screenshot.
Adding Your Own Artist Artwork:
You Can't: Digging into this, for my own curiosity, I am told by Apple "Unfortunately, adding Album artwork is the only option to add artwork on your Mac. The Apple Music Subscription doesn't even provide this, if it is not available on the iTunes Store. So, if it were available, it would be added, but only with an Apple Music Subscriptions."
Recommend this to Apple:
Do Your Part: Being not an feature of the Music app, recommend this to Apple. Apple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know wha their customer prefer and what features to include in updates to cone.
- Go Here: Feedback - Music - Apple
- Select: "Feature Request" for the "Feedback Type"
- Select: "Playlist" for the "What Apple Music feature is your feedback about?"
- Comment: that you want this to be an option, and why. Include the URL of this thread.
- Proceed from there as necessary
