OBS Streaming Issues After macOS Tahoe Update: Lag, Freezing, and Encoding Problems

MACOS TAHOE HAS DESTROYED MY OBS STREAMING - WHY IS IT SO BAD? NOTHING IS WORKING!

Hi everyone,

I’m seriously struggling after updating to macOS Tahoe. My OBS setup, which worked flawlessly on Sequoia, is now completely broken. Here’s what I’m dealing with:

  • Using an M1 Mac mini (16GB RAM, 2TB storage)
  • Running the latest version of OBS
  • Using the same settings I had on macOS Sequoia
  • OBS streams now lag, freeze, or fail to encode properly
  • Performance has dropped massively — scenes stutter, audio desyncs, and CPU usage spikes
  • No changes to hardware, no new plugins, nothing unusual added
  • All permissions (screen recording, camera, mic) are enabled

My questions:

  • Has anyone else’s streaming performance collapsed after updating to Tahoe?
  • Is this a known compatibility issue with OBS and macOS Tahoe?
  • Is there anything I can tweak, or should I roll back to Sequoia?

Any advice would be massively appreciated — this update has pretty much bricked my streaming workflow.

Thanks!
