Unable to add any child or guest profiles on AppleTV (running tvOS 26.1)

Anyone else having an issue with the new user profiles on AppleTV? I went on vacation for a week and came home to discover that AppleTV has added a user profile feature, but I'm unable to add any child or guest profiles, which means my 76yo mom (who lives with me and doesn't know how to use a computer or cell phone) is now SOL for watching TV, since the only form of television we have in our home is streaming on AppleTV. Ever since the AppleTV came out I've been a huge fan, , but this.... I'm so mad and frustrated that they did this I can hardly stand it. Oh, and I can't update to tvOS 26.2 on any of our devices either. Any advice or troubleshooting steps (aside from build an email address and Apple ID for your mom) is greatly appreciated.
