Unable to Erase Mac Due to Deactivated Apple ID

I need help with resetting my Mac. Previously, I used one Apple ID, but I switched to a new one and later deactivated the old account.

Now I want to erase all content and settings on my Mac, but the system is asking me to sign out of the old Apple ID and enter the password. I cannot access that account anymore since it is deactivated, so I am unable to proceed with the reset.

Could you please help me remove the old Apple ID from the device or guide me on how to erase the Mac without signing into the deactivated account?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

That old Mac is bricked. It cannot be used, or reset.

Deactivation or deletion must be the last step, as it bricks everything associated with.

You’ll need to reactivate the Apple Account (if you deactivated, and did not delete) and reset, or present proof of original purchase such as a receipt from Apple or an authorized reseller, and get the ownership relocated.

As for getting help here, this is a user-to-user forum. We can’t resolve this. Apple may or may not read posts around here, and very seldom replies.

Are you using the correct term?

You requested an account be deactivated and now want it activated again: click on this link about 'How to deactivate your Apple ID account' --> How to deactivate your Apple Account - Apple Support

- See the section about "Can I reactivate my account?"

For information about how to delete an Apple Account (formerly “Apple ID”), read this support article —> How to delete your Apple Account - Apple Support

Carefully and thoroughly read that article for information about what happens when you delete your Apple Account. For example:

"Make sure that you sign out of all your devices to avoid issues with apps that use your Apple Account or iCloud. After your account is deleted, you can’t sign out of iCloud or turn off Find My iPhone Activation Lock on your devices. If you forget to sign out, you might not be able to use your device when your account is deleted."

You could try to get the account working again, as outlined in: How to delete your Apple Account - Apple Support

"What happens if I change my mind after I have requested that my account be deleted?

While your request is being processed, you can contact Apple Support [call them at a telephone number for your country --> Contact Apple Support - Apple Support ] with the unique alphanumeric access code you received, and we’ll help you cancel your request. After your account is deleted, Apple can't cancel the request, reopen your account, or restore your data."

Alternatively, Apple can reset a device if a person can provide sufficient evidence of valid ownership (usually the original receipt from Apple or an authorized retailer —> Keep your receipt after you buy an Apple device - Apple Support ).
