Safari address bar glitches after update

Last week I updated to Safari Version 26.1 (20622.2.11.119.1) on my 2019 3GhZ 6 core Intel i5 iMac running Sequoia 15.7.2 (24G325).

Previously the browser had been blazingly fast. Now however it glitches when you go to add an address in the top bar. It stalls after the first letter is typed, then picks up but if you're not looking at the screen it will search for A or F if they are the first letter.

It also takes longer to bring back pages.

I've restarted both Safari and the Mac without success. Is there anything else I can do please?

The Etrecheck report is below. NB, I know I am running a non-Apple SSD but the old Fusion Drive ground to a halt a couple of years ago and cost meant it was the only option at the time.

It came back! I've kept the snag at bay by quitting Safari and going back in, but the solution lasted only a day or so. I had some time today so I uninstalled and reinstalled Bitwarden and made sure the Safari extension was off. I notice that the latest Bitwarden update ha issues with Safari on Silicon Macs. Perhaps it was presenting differently on Intel machines like mine. Anyway, thanks again – and fingers crossed.
