Can my AirTag provide scammers with my info?
I got a very strange email yesterday. It said my earbuds have been found at the airport I flew from last week. The email had my name and a description of my earbuds in the airtag case I keep them in. The email gave me the option to have the earbuds returned, or I could pick them up or donate them.
But I have my earbuds. At first I thought, did I drop them? I remembered putting them in my backpack during the flight. So, I checked my backpack and they were there, I have them. But the emailer knew my name, my email, that I had been in the airport on that date and they gave an accurate description of the earbuds and case! It creeps me out! It’s obviously a scam, but how could this happen? Could a scammer get all that info from an AirTag?
