Apple ID purchase history shows old iPhone name for renewal

I originally purchased my GPT Plus subscription on my old iPhone 14 Pro Max. I later bought a new iPhone 16 Pro Max, logged in with the same Apple ID, and fully wiped the old iPhone 14 back to factory settings.

Everything works fine, but when I check Settings > My Name > Purchases, the latest renewal still shows the name of my old iPhone 14.

Is this normal? Could it be because the subscription was originally started on that device and has been renewing automatically ever since, so the billing info continues to show the old device name even though it’s wiped and no longer linked to my Apple ID?

(P.S. my new iphone name is different from my old iphone name)

This is expected behaviour, your purchases will list the device that has been used to make the purchase.

Even on the invoice from Apple you will see the name of the device that has been used, if I purchase content on my iPad, the name of my iPad will be listed even thought the Apple Account is the same.

All you need to do is cancel your subscription and one day after it ends you buy it again (so it a subscription end nov 23 you buy it on nov 24 to be sure) on a new device , thats it.

You could have given your device any name, which would then appear on your invoice.

However, I could not find a name on the bill for my Apple Music subscription or the 3rd party weather app, just the Apple Account name.

Usually purchases are tied to the Apple Account that has been used to download/purchase them.

Are you using your phone number as your Apple Account, instead of a Mail address?

Even if the device which was initially used to purchase the subscription is not linked to apple id anymore? What i mean is that the first purchase of this subscription was made on the old device but even after i wiped it to factory settings the new renewal bills for the existing subscription were also referring the old device , as seen on the photo.

So you are saying that this is normal that it will still show this device for future billings of this subscription even though it is not linked to my apple id anymore?

I had the same apple id on both phones, and no , my id is my gmail. I attached the photo where you can understand what i mean by saying that the purchase shows my previous iphone name

Can this be changed? I called apple and they didnt seem to know how to change it.
