copy/burn songs to memory stick from iTunes on MAC?
Why can I burn songs to portable media CD, but I can't copy/burn them to a portable memory stick?
I can drag and drop, but many of the songs do not/will not get copied?

Do not burn your memory stick. It will cease to function.
You can copy songs to it via drag-n-drop. But if you try to do too many songs at once it will mess up. Do small batches, and check after each batch that all the songs copies correctly before you do more.

Yup, that is an undocumented limitation that has been there since the early days of iTunes.
Regarding other players for Mac, the 2nd most popular is VLC (https://www.videolan.org), a free one, if you want to give it a try.

Thanks, this is what I have been doing, and you are correct if you pick more than 20 or so some get garbaged up! Poor excuse for a Music program that is not kept up to dat, "burn to CD", really!
Are you aware of another Apple compatible program for Music?
