iMac video editing software for carousel animation

Better than iMovie? I have reached the limit of what iMovie can do. I want to do more. What is the next step for my iMac? What software can I use? The project I want to do is show our eight books on a carousel, slowly appearing, then moving on to the next book. I want to insert links to purchase them, and I want way more control over text placement. I mention iMac because I plan to upgrade to the latest big bad iMac M4, or whatever is available in January.

From the description, Keynote might be a viable option.

It's a presentation app, based on the concept of a slideshow.

You can create one 'slide' per book - for any number of books.

You can create transitions between each slide (wipe, fade, iris, etc.) and set automatic timers for how long each slide/book should be on screen.

Might be worth checking out. It should already be installed on your system.

Gemini was mostly correct. In the version of Canva I am using, there is no way to make transitions from one slide to the next, but the other controls are very useful. I created a one minute video showing each book cover. I controlled the amount of time each cover was displayed. Then I added a 'click here' and QR code, but in the .mp4 video it created, the links are not live. I was able to use some royalty-free music I had previously found (I think from AudioSauce ??) and was able to fade in and fade out as needed. I have to figure out why I can't do transitions, but that will be the final touch, along with live links.

I don't think MP4 files can have active links. They're video files intended for playback, not interactive elements.

There are tools that can add overlays during playback (typically via JavaScript actions), which can have that effect (and depends on the playback platform), but the MP4 itself is going to be passive.

What is your expected playback platform? is this a kiosk kind of thing that you maintain? or is this something you're distributing widely and have no control over? That might make a difference.
