iPad not enrolling in Intune after Configurator/ABM

This was all done within the last few days, so all the certificates are new.

-MDM push certificate is active

-MDM profile made in ABM

-Enrollment Token in Intune is active

-Enrollment Profile is set up and working

-All set to the same intune enrollment profile

-All set to the same location and MDM in ABM.

I have three iPads (11th gen, A16) I want to be managed by intune. All are up to date on iPadOS 26.1. All were added to ABM by using the configurator on an iphone. Two are working as intended, and enrolled. The third is is listed as "ready to enroll."

This third iPad is still in OOBE. When setting it up it makes no mention of belonging to my organization, and proceeds with a normal oobe. If I use the configurator again it remains at an "iPad Added" screen with my company's information with an "erase iPad" button.

For the two that worked, a restart caused the oobe to state the ipad belongs to the company, and the setup went as I expected from my enrollment profile.

What exactly is the behavior I should be expecting? Or am I doing something wrong. Once on the "ipad added" screen, what is supposed to happen?

Used the iPad 10th gen tag, as there wasn't a tag for the 11th gen/A16.

Based on your description, I can guess that you have a flaw in one of two places.

1: Apple Business/School Manager

Log into ABM/ASM and select the Devices tab. Search for the device in question. Assuming it appears in the Devices list, select it to review details. What MDM is it assigned to? If it is assigned to "Apple Configurator," then reassign it to your Intune server token. If you are adding the device via Configurator from a Mac, you cannot target a DEP token so the unit adds as the generic "Apple Configurator." Note, Intune is notoriously slow. If you do not force a resync in Intune, it may take 24 hours for the newly assigned device to appear.

2: Intune

If you checked ABM/ASM and the unit is assigned, then go into Intune and make sure that you have scoped the device to your prestage (and that it synced). Intune admin console > Devices > iOS/iPad OS > Enrollment > Enrollment Program Tokens (note the time of last sync) > Click on the enrollment token > select Devices > press Sync to refresh the connection to ABM/ASM to make sure you have the correct device assignment (last successful sync time should update) > press Profiles > Edit your iOS prestage > choose Assigned Devices and make sure your device is assigned to the prestage. Wait a few minutes and then erase the iPad and try again.

If the device is assigned to your Intune token and you have the device assigned to the prestage, you should be fine.

Hope this is helpful.
