I bought 2 books yesterday as gifts but did not receive invoices. The last time I purchased an apple book as a gift I received an invoice. What is meant to happen? The money has been debited from my account. Waiting to hear if the books have arrived for my friend but shouldn't I receive a copy of the message sent and the invoice itself to confirm the transaction went through?

There should be an option to send the receipt via email again.

Do the books show up in the purchase list of your friend? Theoretically your friend downloaded them with their Apple Account, no matter how the payment has been done.
Another thing that’s strange- there’s nothing listed in purchases. However I checked with my friend who received the books. I’ve just no idea why the books aren’t listed in past purchases as a gift or that there’s no invoice!
