Cannot install app update; volume is read only

This is a new one on me. I’ve never seen it before. I’m trying to update my Quicken for Mac file and get the following error message:You can;t save the file “Quicken….” because the volume (gives a long series of letters and numbers) is read only. Does anyone know what’s going on and how to fixit? (This is a newer model MacBook Pro.
