Is it true that after one year inactive subscriptions will disappear?

I have a subscription that I stopped paying for a year ago and today it is officially a year. is it true that It will disappear or is it just a rumour. and does it still work?

I have seen people post that but without documentary support from Apple. Mind you, just because Apple doesn't say something doesn't mean it isn't the case.
