Correcting audio reverb and echo

I have just finished interviewing two people in a shop surrounded by ceramic tiles. Both wore lavalier mics. I knew the environment would produce echo. Using the latest FCP version I aligned the two audio tracks with the video. Something I have done many times before. It seems the each lavalier picked up the other person as well as the room echo. While each track was ok controlling for echo by itself, running both together was impossible to correct. At least for me! Is there a solution please? Running two mics close together in an interview situation shouldn’t produce such poor quality sound.

I agree with BenB about trying Voice Isolation - it might solve the problem without any further fuss. If it doesn't fix it entirely you might need to duck the audio of the person when they're not speaking. Easy to do with the Range tool. https://youtu.be/nFZShxTO-ag

It is amazing what 24 hours can do. I have aligned the two tracks with the video and it works perfectly. I have no idea why it went wild yesterday...me?....or a gremlin? I also improved the audio using a little EQ to frequency scan, Adaptive EQ, Voice Isolation to remove echo, Compressor and Noise Gate to lift the sound depth. This same incidence happened last year as well. I think Apple needs to explain how to use all its Logic and audio tools listed in FCP. There seems to be a shortage of "How Too" videos on Youtube about these resources. There are a few but not many. The Apple manual of 140 pages does not provide many 'how to' examples.

Thank you all for your comments. I believe the audio corrections for allowing both voice tracks to sync clearly with the video is not a simple problem. The issue is interference and echo across two mics. I have routinely tried all the quick FCP tools like Voice Isolation without success. I will do some more research but luckily I have a third track in reserve. Thanks again.
