WhatsApp screen sharing not visible to others on MacBook Pro (M4 Pro, macOS Sequoia)

Hi everyone,

I’m facing an issue with screen sharing on WhatsApp Desktop for Mac.

When I share my screen during a WhatsApp video call, the other person can’t see my shared screen - they only see my camera feed or sometimes blur screen.

Its been only a week since I have bought this machine.

Here’s my setup and what I’ve tried so far:

Device & OS:

  • MacBook Pro (M4 Pro chip)
  • macOS Sequoia [15.6]

App:

  • WhatsApp Desktop (Version 2.25.31.75)

What I’ve done:

  • Enabled Screen Recording permission for WhatsApp in System Settings --> Privacy & Security --> Screen Recording

  • Quit and reopened WhatsApp
• Tried both “Entire Screen” and specific window sharing options
  • Restarted my Mac
  • Verified screen sharing works perfectly in Google Meet and FaceTime

Despite this, the other person on WhatsApp cannot see my screen - the call UI even shows that screen sharing is active, but it doesn’t display anything on their end.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Is screen sharing for WhatsApp currently unsupported or buggy on Apple Silicon (M-series) Macs?

Any insights or fixes would be really appreciated. 🙏

Thanks

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 15.6
