Help Migrating Final Cut Pro HD Project to Premiere Pro (XML v1 Compatibility Issue)

Hello everyone,

I’m trying to rescue a feature film project originally edited in Final Cut Pro HD on a PowerMac G4 (macOS 10.3.9) from around 2005.

✅ I have fully reconnected all media and audio successfully

✅ All sequences in the final cut are now online

✅ All media is consolidated onto one modern external drive

My issue:

FCP HD only exports XML Interchange Format v1

Adobe Premiere Pro cannot import XML v1 reliably (throws errors or fails silently)

I do not have access to Final Cut Pro 6/7 or FCP X 10.0+, which can translate older XML formats to newer ones (XML v4+) that Premiere understands.

Any suggestions?

Hi (bonjour),

May be this IA answer could be helpful, contact the apps developers to ask about XML 1 capability:

« To convert a Final Cut Pro 7 project to Final Cut Pro X, you must export an XML file from FCP7, then use a third-party conversion utility like 7toX or SendToX, {Link: available on the App Store or Intelligent Assistance or directly from the developer's site, to translate it to the .fcpxml format, and then import the new .fcpxml file into Final Cut Pro X. This process moves your sequence to a compound clip in FCPX, but may require manual adjustments for effects, titles, and aspect ratios. «
