I updated my iPad Air to iOS 26. I don't like much about the new version but what I really don't like is the swipe up to clear the screen no longer works.
Details? I loved the swipe up to end (close) and app. Now when I swipe up (after updating to 26) the swipe up just splits the screen and each half goes to the side. When I swipe up I want it gone!

After the update to iPadOS 26, the system automatically chooses the windowed app option under multitasking and gestures in settings. If you go to settings and open the multitasking and gestures tab, you should see an option to toggle “close all apps after swiping home”. If you turn that on, you will see that swiping home will be exactly as in iPadOS 18. This is all if you want the new Windowing system.
If you do not want it, you can change that under multitasking and gestures in Settings.
