Rapid battery drain on iPad Pro after iOS 26 update
I see lost of posts about rapid battery drain post major iOS upgrade, be it phone or iPad all suggesting this is quite normal for the first several hours or days whilst the device re indexes and adjusts to the new OS etc.... but I'm more that 3wks in and still getting rapid drain, whats the problem? I've not added/deleted any apps, all are fully updated from the App Store, I don't get it... My iPad is becoming difficult to use off a constant charge source for large periods of use.
Example - device at 100% charge, disconnect from charge lead and leave the iPad unused on a desk for say 4 or 5 hours pick it and its now showing 65-70% remaining at best. Use for 45mins of Zwift connected turbo training, lose as much as 30% battery in single session (50% screen brightness). Watch a movie typically 2Hrs, lose as much as 50% (50% screen brightness). Surf the web in Safari or Edge, lose as much as 20% per hour. Us Apple notes with an Apple pencil for a 1 hour meeting, lose as much as 35% and so on.... Despite being the 5G variant, its usually connected to my home or office WiFi6 network, rarely use 5G - note to self for next time!
Regardless of what I use it for now, the battery is now typically down to 10% remaining or dead within a working day period without regular charge stops. Prior to iOS26, the iPad ran for 2-3 days with the same usage profile typically consuming about 25-35% per day with equivalent usage and would always give me at least 2-2.5 working days between charge based on my typical usage style.
Am I alone, is there a fix?
