Screen capture highlighted area stuck on

Hi y'all, hope someone can help me. I use the screen capture function all the time. Today when I use it the highlighted area is getting stuck on the screen after I am finished. I can't seem to get it to close. Only way I have found to reset it is to restart the computer. It is doing it everytime I use it, just started today.
