My Ipad pro 11" Gen 2 worked fine until i updated it to IpadOS 26.0.1

Just spoke to a company that fixes Ipads, as well as someone at Genius bar & they told me that they're getting inundated with lots of people who updated to IpadOS 26.0.1

The Update is killing their device, which worked perfectly before.

I did the recommend fix:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

No joy. I still have a black Screen - I then took it to my local Genius bar and they told me that the new update killed my Ipad.

I am not going to spend £2k+ on a new Ipad when the one I have (which costs £2K) worked fine up until a few days ago.

Apple need to roll back software asap.

Somehow it’s impossible to believe you visited a Genius Bar in an Apple Store, showed your iPad to a genius there, and then was effectively told: “Well, it’s too bad you updated to iPadOS 26.0.1. Because you did that, your iPad can no longer function and there is nothing we can do for you. Apple will recycle your iPad if you wish for no charge. Thank you, and have a good day.”

Surely there is much more to this story. If I had to guess, my guess would be “the company that fixes iPads” you mentioned actually did perform an unauthorized repair on your iPad.

Do you work for Apple per chance? I did ask a company whose business is to fix Apple screens (a lot cheaper than Apple would charge). They didn’t even see the IPad. I just told them the issue and they replied that they'd been inundated with people having the same issue.

The person I saw today at the Genius Bar, was pretty embarrassed tbh. They did say that iPadOS update 26 could affect the hardware, which it obviously has.

It sounds like a lot of People are having the same issues with iPadOS update 26.

All they need to do is issue a rollback, so people don't have to go out and spend money on a new one.

Would be good to have some feedback from somebody who works @ Apple.
