Can't unlock with Touch ID

I have an Intel MacBook Pro, it runs MacOS Tahoe 26.0.1. For some time now, I have been unable to unlock the screen with the Touch ID; I'm forced to enter my password to unlock it. Touch ID works in all other instances. I've deleted and renewed my fingerprint, but the problem persists.


What might cause this behavior?

some report waiting 8-10 secs longer then expected TouchID then becomes active...(?)


Yes —there are some bugs, you can hope the next point-update will help resolve the issue as they continue to roll out.
