Have gift cards in excess of $2k. Can I use additional in store?

I cashed in some credit card rewards for Apple gift cards to buy a new iPhone. Total cost of the phone including Apple care is about $2300 CAD including taxes. As the system does not allow more than $2000 balance, can I use the additional gift cards to buy the phone in person at an Apple store? (Ex. Use the additional gift card to pay the remaining balance to complete the transaction?) I ask because it seems gift cards can only be applied to the Apple wallet and with the limit in place, I cannot order a phone in the Apple online store.

Yes, you are permitted to mix the $2,000 in your Apple Account with additional Apple Gift Cards. Up to 8 additional gift cards may be applied. You’ll need to validate your Apple Account so make sure you know your Apple Account login credentials.

You might be able to add your Apple Account to Apple Pay, then pay using that and the remaining amount in-person with a physical gift card. You should call in to your Apple Store or ask them in-person.
