MacBook Air (M4) Not Recognizing Headphones Until Restart — Audio Jack Not Detected

It's a Macbook Air, 13", M4 with Tahoe 26.0.1 (25A362)

The headphones are ATH-M50x (2014) by Audio-Technica and work perfectly fine with any/all other devices.

Hey, so as the title says, my Macbook has stopped recognizing my headphones when I plug them in. Restarting does fix it, but I'm sick and tired of restarting my laptop every single time I wake it up.

I have already tried "sudo pkill coreaudiod" into the terminal, it doesn't work. I've tried this both by typing it in while the headphones were plugged in, unplugging them and killing coreadudiod and plugging them back in, unplugging them entirely and then waiting before plugging them in.

No, the output audio is not muted, the device just never shows up under the "output" section of the settings. The jack is clean, the laptop is only 6 months old, and I've kept it as clean as possible.

If there were any quick solutions to this, that would be appreciated. Like I said, restarting does fix it, but I'm tired of doing it every single time. It's very possible the headphones are just old, but they were working fine up until this last month.

Edit: What I've been doing is taking out the headphones whenever I know I'm not going to be using my laptop for a while or turning it off. Then I plug them in again when I start using it again. It seems to be working.
