What is my potential for success if I move forward and install macOS Tahoe 26.0.1?

I have a MacBook Pro, Apple M1 Pro, purchased in late 2021, currently running macOS Sequoia 15.7.1...

I'm trying to get the courage to make the move from Sequoia 15.7.1 and move to Tahoe 26.0.1... My Mac is calling for the 26.0.1 update so it's still qualified to work with this update.. I'm soon to buy a new Mac but not quite yet... Don't wanna break this computer... How dramatic an update is this and are most having success upgrading to it???? Or is it causing lots of problems??? Note, I DO have VirusBarrier and NetBarrier installed and running on this machine... Any thoughts would be appreciated... thanks...

I have a 2024 MacBook Pro M4 and installed Tahoe yesterday. Well, it aint pretty, but that aside I have an "issue" with the Music app. An issue being something that is clearly wrong but the app still functions, so far. From the first startup and 2 support calls, one re-install later the app still spawns a "quit unexpectedly" report EVERY time the app is quit normally. My expectations?

Robert, sounds like the Wild West out here. 3 days ago I clicked on what appeared to be a legitimate link to some files from my HOA management team and Norton 360 spit it out and wouldn't let me connect to to it. I contacted the management team and sure enough they were being impersonated. I think that's sufficient evidence that some security SW can be useful. If it saved me once, it's worth it. Of course, if you're perfect and could never be fooled or make a mistake, yeah, it's a waste of money.

FWIW, if I had a software company I would most likely market security software for the Mac. There are lots of gullible users and I would get rich, while not offering any benefit. 🤔

Understood... I knew upfront that admitting I had anti-virus software on my Mac would generate some feedback against having such but admittedly this has been a bit more than I've even heard in the past... And I do appreciate the expertise of the many folks who've responded to my post here, many with level 10 standing while I cruise along with my 229 points (although I do post a few times each year and have done so for a good 20 years or so)... I am soon to purchase a new MacBook Pro as I'm guessing my 2021 M1 Pro version is soon to fall off the "updatable" shelf and I like to have reasonably current hardware (plus my space bar is starting to act weird!!!)... When I do so I will seriously consider not continuing on with anti-virus software... Am I going to try to remove it from this computer??? Ummm... No... Likely cause me more issues than leaving it alone... thanks for all the input... Like I said, I chose to put it out there and I did get feedback... The whole point, right???

I just use my brain for things like that.
