Cancelling Apple Pay payment to non-Apple user

I sent an Apple Pay payment to a person who does not have any Apple devices, and has no way to retrieve the cash. Is there a way to cancel this payment?

Apple has issued a transaction alert as "potentially fraudulent". Who should I contact for more detail, or a cancellation.

You can call the AppleCash issuer (Green Dot Bank) from within your wallet.

Select your AppleCash Card -> More (3 dots) Card Details -> Call

If you send money through Messages with Apple Cash, the recipient has 7 days to set up Apple Cash, and if that has not been done then the transfer will be cancelled automatically and there is nothing you need to do. The same is true if you sent to a person who is unable to set up Apple Cash as would be the case on an Android device.

You still would have the option to cancel the transaction before that 7 days if that person did not have Apple Cash set up to accept the transaction. Those instructions were detailed in the Support Article already provided.

It's not that I don't know or don't trust the individual. My ignorance of Apple Pay. I didn't realize that the transfer of cash works ONLY between Apple devices. I subsequently successfully sent the payment through CashApp.

From now on I'll stick to cross-platform payment app's.

Thanks for the above info. Green Dot Bank listened to my tale of woe, but they really weren't any help.
