Missing Apple Intelligence group photo on iPhone

I think I accidentally held the new camera button on the 17 phone too long when taking a photo of our whole group at my birthday dinner. When I looked for it later, it was nowhere to be seen and the Photos app did not save it. I can not believe that Apple didn’t think to create a folder or a place to save these photos - some of which might just be priceless. Just a thought. Or maybe a warning that this camera mode will not save the image!
