🎧 Headphone jack stops working after sleep on MacBook Air M4 (macOS Sequoia)

I have a recurring issue with my new MacBook Air M4.

After waking up from sleep mode, the 3.5 mm headset (AUX) is no longer detected — it completely disappears from the sound output list in System Settings → Sound → Output.

Physically unplugging and reconnecting the headset doesn’t help.

The only workaround so far is to restart the Mac, after which the headset is recognized again and works normally — until the next sleep/wake cycle.

I’ve already:

  • Cleaned the audio jack
  • Checked Sound preferences
  • Installed all latest macOS updates

Nothing fixed it so far.

Seems like a software bug affecting the audio driver or sleep/wake handling on the M4 chip.

Has anyone found a reliable workaround or fix for this issue?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.7
