How to get rid of Microsoft Autoupdate on OS Mojave?
Hi, I am running some very old 32-bit karaoke software (kJams2 ... ugh, don't ask!) that won't work if I upgrade my old MacBook Pro, so I'm still running OS Mojave (10.14.6), and the Microsoft Autoupdate app launches constantly. It's annoying and I cannot upgrade Office on this machine. Someone in the community did have a solution but it involves going to the Go menu in Finder and this OS doesn't have that. So I want to Library -> Launch Items but found only a plist document. Should I delete that? Will it affect other applications?
I found this from 2023 but I don't want to reinstall Office (I think I'm running 2016 or earlier anyway, not 2021).

The Microsoft AutoUpdate app is in /Library/Application Support/Microsoft and is triggered by /Library/LaunchAgents/com.microsoft.update.plist.
I have Office 2021 for Mac installed and it just works. I never am aware that Microsoft AutoUpdate runs until I launch an updated version of one of the applications and Apple's GateKeeper scans it for two seconds.
I suggest that you uninstall Microsoft Office using Microsoft's Uninstall Office for Mac. Reboot your Mac and then reinstall Office 2021 for Mac (using a custom installation if you don't want Outlook, OneDrive, Notes, etc.) and apply the product key. Then leave it alone (other than preferred application settings) and it should work fine like my installation.
What's my next step? Thanks.
